Paulina
van Laarhoven graduated in 1985 after studying in the Netherlands with
Margriet Tindemans, Jordi Savall & Wieland Kuijken. Her
passionate playing has since graced concert stages throughout Europe,
North and South America, Africa and Japan. Invited to perform with many
of the world's leading Early Music Ensembles including “The
Harp Consort”, “Ensemble Huelgas”,
“Cantus Köln”, "Sirius viols",
“The Ricercar Consort” & “La
Fenice”, she was also a founding member of
“L’Arpeggiata” and “La Sfera
Armoniosa” and now fronts her own ensemble "La Violetta".
Aside
from numerous CD's of
renaissance and baroque music, she has also recorded with the Italian
Symphonic Metal band Rhapsody. Between 1993 and 1995 she worked with
the
renowned choreographer Reinhild Hoffman at the Schauspielhaus in
Bochum, Germany as a soloist and musical director. Her deep interest in
the performance practices of basso continuo led her to explore the long
neglected Lirone, on which she is now recognized as one of the
worlds leading players.
