From an early age Dominik
began to
play every instrument he could get his hands on, but finally ended up
studying the recorder at the Folkwang Musikhochschule in Essen. In his
postgraduate studies at the Musikhochschule Cologne he explored the
world of renaissance and baroque traverse flutes.
"Dominik
Schneider
plays his flutes like Pan. Enchanting and seducing us to
follow
him wherever he desires to take his willing captives!
" Evelyn
Tubb
Following in the
tradition of
renaissance flute players, who generally made their own instruments,
Dominik exclusively plays renaissance transverse flutes built in his
own workshop.
"With an air
of confidence he exchanged between sundry flutes of various sizes and
even became a vocal duo partner in a number of the songs. Then
sometimes
like a jester he slid his plucked instrument onto his
back, so he could be free to grasp yet another flute, all this without
slightly impairing the sovereignty of his playing." Rheinishe
